Monica Kimani’s murder DNA Results revealed

Results from the DNA analysis in Monica Kimani’s murder probe were on Thursday handed over to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Quoting police sources, the Nation indicated that the investigators had been able to prove beyond doubt the identity of the murderer.

However, more findings from the forensic investigations have been kept confidential because the outcome is part of the evidence to be adduced in court by the prosecution.

Other sources indicate that detectives have narrowed to robbery or love gone sour as the motive behind the killing.

In addition to the forensic evidence, police are relying on the analysis of the conversation between Kimani, Joseph Irungu (Jowie), her links in South Sudan and Irungu’s close friends to solve the murder puzzle.

A Lebanese national and a Kenyan only identified as Owen, who met with the main suspect Jowie at Monica’s house moments before she was murdered, have been interrogated for a second time to corroborate the evidence that police have gathered so far.

The cybercrime investigations unit has reportedly been brought on board to find out who, Jowie, the main suspect in the murder, may have met with or communicated with before and after the murder.

“They are also reviewing CCTV footage that captured the suspect leaving the apartment, with the aim of establishing the identity of the man who was with him in the car,” a police source is quoted.

Detectives have been piecing evidence to unravel the gruesome murder that happened in Kilimani, Nairobi where Ms Kimani’s body was found in the bathtub with the water running, her throat slit from ear to ear, taped-tied mouth with tied legs and hands.
