Sharon Otieno’s mother has made some shocking demands from Okoth Obado’s  Migori  County Government.

Melida Auma, the mother of the slain Rongo University student has asked the County government provides upkeep the three children left behind by her daughter claiming that she was the breadwinner before her death.

She said that they had been rendered hopeless after the death of their daughter and that the county should intervene.

“As a family, we have been rendered hopeless since our only provider, Sharon is no more. Migori County Government should intervene and provide for me the way Sharon has been doing. We are ready to accept any assistance from anywhere since Am left with Sharon’s Children and they need upkeep which was being provided by the deceased,” she was quoted.

The news comes a surprise since Obado is currently in custody, being held as a prime suspect in Sharon’s murder.

Sharon’s mutilated body was found dumped in a thicket in Kodera forest, two days after being lured to abduction by Michael Oyamo, Obado’s Personal Assistant who is also in prison and has been charged with murder.

An autopsy report revealed that the seven month pregnant woman was gang raped before being stabbed eight times. A paternal test also identified Obado as the father of Sharon’s unborn baby.

Melida, was the first person to link Obado to her daughter’s death saying that her daughter was in love with the governor who had betrayed the love.

“Sharon was in love with him and was even expecting his baby. There were even talks to give her county contracts,” she claimed.

It is also not clear why Melida is asking for help from the county government yet Sharon was married to a certain Benard Okuta, a High school teacher at Rapogi High School in Uriri Sub-county, Migori County.

Sharon’s uncle, Mr. Mr Joshua Okong’o had revealed that Ms Otieno had been married to Mr Okuta, and they had a son and two daughters.

“Her husband is a high school teacher,” Mr Okong’o said, adding that the couple lived in the school compound.

Wouldn’t it have been easier for Sharon’s mother to ask her son in law to take care of his kids?

Meanwhile, Obado is currently being held at Industrial Area Police Station as investigations into the murder probe enters  homestretch. The governor will be taken to court on 8th August, where a decision on his bail application will be made.

Sharon Otieno is yet to be buried.
