Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger calls on his team-mates to share scoring burden with Hazard

According to Antonio Rudiger, Eden Hazard should not have to shoulder all the goal-scoring pressure at Chelsea.

The Belgian striker has been in scintillating form to start the season and reached new heights last week with two goals against Liverpool, one in the Carabao Cup win and another in the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

But Hazard’s responsibilities need to be shared by others up front, says the German

“We need to learn to kill matches. It’s not only on Eden’s shoulders. We need the other players to help him with scoring. He has been doing his job very well again, but the other guys must score too – Giroud, Morata, Willian have to score. As a team all of us have to provide more goals, the defenders as well. At the end of the day the best scorers are Hazard and Pedro, but with the quality of players we have on the pitch, it’s  the lack of goals from elsewhere not too good.”

Hazard’s importance to Chelsea’s undefeated start in all competitions cannot be overstated

Perhaps  Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri would echo Rudiger’s calls for others to chip in with goals as an injury lay-off for Hazard looks like it would be incredibly damaging for Chelsea’s title aspirations.

In seven games so far this season, Hazard has scored six times and provided two assists, underlining his importance to the team.

Despite a few lingering worries over profligacy, Sarri’s side are now the only side in the Premier League to remain unbeaten in all competitions.

Hazard and Co will look to extend their record against Southampton at St Mary’s on Sunday.
