There are claims that Migori County Governor who is in police custody in relation to the murder of Sharon Otieno, is receiving special treatment. Sources reveal that Obado was given a comfortable bed, mattress; An officer assigned to attend to him and visitors freely allowed to see him; Obado is still in civilian clothes.
Recently, Alego Usonga Member of Parliament received bitter reactions on social media after he demanded a VIP treatment for Migori governor Okoth Obado who was remanded at Industrial area prison.
On a live interview on TV , the MP is said to have spoken these words.
“Some Police Stations have better facilities than others such as Kileleshwa. I am sure Obado is not having a good time at Industrial Area.
“I think VIPs should get better treatment as remandees owing to their status in society,” he said.
The suspicion that there could be VIP cells in our remand prisons is a justification for special treatments to some suspects and Governor Obado is one. His alleged special treatment is therefore instigated to the existence of these VIP cells.

Kenyans on twitter have reacted to these claims saying that suspects need to be treated equally.
Crime is crime regardless of who is the criminal he should be treated like the other criminals

After Obado was arraigned in court, during the ruling by Justice Lessit, she mentioned that the court could not determine his bail application before all the witness statements are in court. Obado has since been behind bars until the next hearing of the case which will be on the 8th of October.
