Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo had recently seen his three-game ban being reduced to just one over the incident involving the Champions League clash against Valencia. While Ronaldo seems to have escaped from the grasp of one problem, he has now been caught in another as US woman has claimed that the Portuguese star raped her in 2009. The accusation came through German magazine Der Speigel, speaking to whom the woman had said that Cristiano had done so at the Palms Place Hotel in Las Vegas.

After the 2009 incident, it is reported that Ronaldo and the Kathryn Mayorga (the woman accusing him of rape), settled the case outside the court on being paid USD 375,000 by the football player. “Kathryn was sexually assaulted in June 2009 by an individual named Cristiano Ronaldo,” Mayorga’s lawyer, Leslie Mark Stovall, was seen speaking in the video shared by the German magazine Der Spiegel.

As per Mayorga’s lawyer, the complaint was filed to declare the non-disclosure agreement as null and void. “The purpose of this lawsuit is to hold Cristiano Ronaldo responsible within a civil court of law for the injuries he has caused Kathryn Mayorga and the consequences of those injuries,” the lawyer told the magazine.

Ronaldo’s lawyer Christian Schertz said in a statement at the football superstar will sue the German publication over “blatantly illegal” accusation by the woman as it remains “an inadmissible reporting of suspicions in the area of privacy.”

The statement was sent by Ronaldo’s agent Gestifute to Reuters after the publication sought the Juventus forward’s comment on the story.
Ronaldo’s lawyer has also said that the player would seek damages from the German publication for moral damages to his client caused by the story they have covered. “Moral damages in an amount corresponding to the gravity of the infringement, which is probably one of the most serious violations of personal rights in recent years,” said Schertz.

Keeping the off-field issues aside, Ronaldo will be seen in action in the Serie A for Juventus as the league leaders take on Carlo Ancelotti’s Napoli on Saturday.
