Foreign affairs denies Monica Kimani being their employee

The Kenyan Government has dismissed claims doing rounds on social media that the slain South Sudan based business woman, Monica Kimani, worked at the Kenyan Embassy in Juba, South Sudan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the 29-year-old woman who lived and worked in South Sudan was never their employee.

The new revelations which came hours after the slain woman was buried at her parents home in Gilgil, Nakuru county, was reported by Daily Nation on Friday, September 28. The clarifications came barely days after Monica’s father, Paul Ngarama, said before the time of her death she was taking care of their family business: Millipaul General Trading, an establishment named after their parents.

He also revealed that Monica worked as a contractor for UAP insurance company in Juba, South Sudan, and her contract was just about to end.

Monica was murdered and her body placed inside a bathtub with her hands tied together and her mouth sealed with adhesive tape. Detectives said their leads so far have only linked Joseph Irungu alias Jowie to the murder and is now in police custody as investigations continue. Irungu is a fiancé of Citizen TV anchor Jacque Maribe who was also questioned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for the second time on Friday, September 28, in relation to Irungu’s link to the murder.

On Thursday, September 27, police dusted her car, believed to have been driven by Irungu on the night the murder occurred, looking for fingerprints, footprints, DNA and soil samples. Maribe is also reported to have taken Irungu to various hospitals after he allegedly sustained a gunshot wound around their house in Royal Park Estate, Lang’ata using the same car. However, Reverend Kennedy Mbatia, who led the service stated that the family had forgiven the killers but called for the culprits to be brought to book.
