The Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed on Tuesday that Belgian goalkeeper Simon Mignolet will start Wednesday’s Carabao Cup match against Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea.
The German tactician confirmed the Belgian deserves the start during his pre-match press conference.
The Red’s manager said, “He has been brilliant. Yes, it was how you can imagine it. Simon would have been ready to go to another club to be number one wherever in the world, but we couldn’t do it. Since then he has been brilliant, he trains very well. He deserves the game tomorrow. I am happy to give him tat opportunity.”
Mignolet has been on the Red’s bench in all competitions since the start of this season, after the purchase of the second most expensive shot stopper Alisson Becker from Roma.
