The probe into Sharon Otieno’s murder is expected to take more twists and plots but not everyone thought that someone would try to abduct another member of the Otieno family.

But that’s what happened last week. A gang of more than five people attacked a younger brother of Ms Otieno’s father, Mr Douglas Otieno, as he walked to his Nairobi house from work. Fortunately, he fought off the attackers who tried to force him into a waiting car. They seemed keen on hiding their identities and fled the scene when he raised alarm.

The assailants made away with his wallet, money, phone and national identification card. He reported the case at Mawe Mbili Police Station on Kangundo Road, OB number 03/20/09/018.

The thugs told him to be careful; that he will know this is Kenya; and that they are more Kenyan than him. Utajua hii ni Kenya na sisi ni Wakenya zaidi yako … they said in Kiswahili,” Ms Otieno’s father said.

The attack comes at a time when Migori Governor Okoth Obado, who was Sharon’s lover and the father of her unborn baby is in custody to answer murder charges.

Mr. Obado denied the charges of aiding and abetting Sharon’s brutal murder on Monday and was remanded at Industrial Area Police Station pending the determination of his bail application which is due Tuesday afternoon.
