‘Daylight robbery’ -Kutuny lashes out on VAT debate

What transpired in parliament regarding the way President Uhuru Kenyatta’s memorandum on Finance Bill 2018 was adopted is a fallacy.

I want to put it clear that the leadership of Parliament used unorthodox, undemocratic and unprocedural means to pass the President’s memorandum.

The action totally undermines democracy and amounts to daylight robbery of democracy against the wishes of the common mwananchi.

I want to remind the leadership of Parliament that they need not to force everything to happen, least they invite silent revolution.

The principal of politics calls for consultation and reaching out to opposing sides and people of divergent opinion on issues of common concern facing Kenyans.

As much as they resort to barbaric means in handling issues of great concern, history will judge them harshly for oppressing poor Kenyans.

In conclusion, the rebellion witnessed in Parliament is a tip of the iceberg over many underlying issues.
