Kenyans on Twitter have blasted Nairobi County Women Representative Esther Passaris for defying to vote against the proposed 8% VAT tax.
Passaris had taken to her twitter account to show her stunt on the VAT tax, saying that she was advocating for 0% VAT tax and her prayers were that the Members of parliament vote for the same.
In the midst of all the rhetoric, I pray the cry of the People supersedes the noise and guides today’s vote. Given that I’m out of the Country with the Health Committee, I don’t have a vote but this is my stand; 0% VAT. #TaxVoteKe #FinanceBill2018 pic.twitter.com/9qc8OlyGa7

Kenyans accused her of defying to vote when she indicated that she was outside the country alongside the health committee for official functions.
Those accusing her say she defied the voting intentionally since she clearly knew that the voting to pass or reject President Uhuru Kenyatta’s memo was to happen on Thursday.
u new well the day to vote for 0% vat is today and u flew. your stand cant help then in any way

I imagined your commitee would prioritize the Pumwani fiasco & tax bill if you cared. You travelled conviniently on our taxes! #KOT

Some accused her of travelling with the health committee yet the situation at Pumwani Maternity Hospital is worse.
What is the health committee going to do outside the country when we see failed services at #Pumwani. clean the house first. another travel another allowances more wastage @UKenyatta
