Sonko offers temporary reprieve to Pumwani Hospital

Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has facilitated installation of coolers for a temporary morgue at Pumwani Maternity Hospital.

This follows critics from people and health officers after him storming the hospital and unveiling its rot.

On Monday this week, Sonko made an impromptu visit to Pumwani hospital on a motor bike and in casual wears where he discovered 12 bodies of infants wrapped in plastic bags.

He immediately suspended the top management of the hospital which welcomed critics from different people with the truth behind the saga unveiling.

It was found that the hospital doesn’t have a morgue and the bodies are only collected to the city mortuary on Mondays and Thursdays only.

It also emerged that body bags are not provided to the hospital leading to the nurses coming up with alternative means of keeping the bodies till the collection days.

People started to accuse Sonko of staging a Public Relations strategy on the hospital when he clearly knew that the hospital doesn’t have a morgue.
