Details of Prince William’s Kenya visit

Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge is set to visit Kenya next week on Sunday September 30, as part of his African tour. A statement from Kensington Palace indicated that main agenda of his visit concerns the fight against illegal wildlife trade and strengthening of military ties between Kenya and the United Kingdom.

“The private working trip is being made as United for Wildlife President and Tusk Organisation Patron ahead of the 2018 Illegal Wildlife Trade Conference in London,” Kensington Palace said.

The 36-year old Prince visit, will also include a tour of the 1st Battalion the Irish Guards Battleground which includes an infantry company from the Kenyan army, training under the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK).

“Prince William, who is Colonel of the Irish Guards, will learn how British and Kenyan troops are working together to improve performance on operations”

The visit, however, is part of his public and private engagements in Africa, as he is also scheduled to visit Namibia and Tanzania.

Last when Prince William visited Kenya was in 2016 as a guest at the wedding of his ex-girlfriend Jessica Craig at the Lewa Wildlife Reserve.

He met with President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi where they discussed the relationship between Kenya and UK.
