Despite an initial agreement by Kenya and Uganda for joint policing of Migingo Island, Ugandan forces have pulled down Kenyan flag that had been raised on the Island.
According to Migingo beach management unit chairman Mr John Obunge, the Ugandan security officers pulled down the Kenyan flag and warned the Kenyan police deployed on the Island against making attempts of raising it again.
The two countries have had long lasting disputes over the Island, an area that is surrounded by waters rich in fish.
It has now emerged that it is only the Ugandan flag allowed to fly at the Island despite the fact that the Island is manned by security forces from the two countries.
To avoid a potential clash, the Kenyan security forces backed down after the aggressive Ugandan officers pulled down the flag and removed the post.
Fishermen carrying their operations from the area have now gone down to accuse Ugandan government for disrespecting Kenyan government and its Citizens.
They have gone further to accuse President Yoweri Museveni of dictatorship following the violation of human rights that is currently being witnessed in Uganda.
Kenyans have expressed different reactions
Our government should come clean on who owns this island.

The only flag that can be placed at this island is that of East Africa.
