Can the Leopards recapture the 90’s glory?

The Former Kenya Premier League Giants Abaluhya Football Club,(AFC) is currently not a threat anymore.

The Den has been in poor run of form in the past 4 seasons losing the title to Gor Mahia thrice and Tusker Football Club.

Having last won the title back in 1998, the Leopards have since struggled, first with the management of the club not being stable, players payments being delayed or being considered as peanuts, appalling change of coaches and the Technical bench even just after a month at the  helm.

The change of coaches, has really affected the team, the coaches haven’t really been given enough time to implement their ideas and tactics in the team, then on comes the Sack due to poor performances.

The Leopards have not been very consistent in their league performances thereby falling behind rivals Gor Mahia, Sofapaka and Tusker Football clubs. They have been winning matches and then losing to inferior sides.

The current club’s hierarchy however now hope they can be able to go back to their 1990 Glory. The involvement of Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja seems to have stabilized things and brought some order.

With the appointment of 51-year-old Argentine Tactician Rodolfo Zapata back in May, Ingwe has had a mixture of wins and loses, having committed his future to the club with the main aim of winning the league this season.

Zapata has previously coached Sunshine Stars FC of Nigeria (2010), Black Aces FC of South Africa (2011-2012) and Botswana’s Gaborone United where he worked since 2016 until AFC Leopards poached him.

But, on his side, Zapata says that, most of his players are still young, and that people need to be patient with them because they are still developing, and learning some vital skills. This is the main reason as to why they have been struggling in the league. Adding that once more they will be a force to reckon with.

The Isukui playing Fans have been urged to keep supporting Ingwe by the management of club, as they look to pick up other 3 points this season.
