Spurs forward Lucas Moura has won the Premier League Player of the Month award for August after a superb start to the season.

The 26-year-old Brazilian has three goals in four matches for Tottenham, including a brace against Manchester United that helped his side to a 3-0 win at Old Trafford, and a fine curling finish against Fulham that was nominated for Goal of the Month.

A big-money signing from PSG last January, much was expected from Moura in the capital, but he enjoyed a slow start to life in English football. He certainly looks to have settled in now though, with the Samba star taking up the burden of being Spurs’ main creator.

Although Moura was given a chance in the first team thanks in large part to Son Heung-Min being on international duty with South Korea at the Asian Games, the Korean will have to fight his way back to a starting spot. However, he will have time to do so after exempting himself from national military service by winning the Asian Games with his country.

Tottenham have started the season with three wins out of four, and face Liverpool at Wembley when the Premier League returns after the international break.
