All-action midfielder Vidal made the surprise move to the Camp Nou from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich last month.
The South American arrived in Catalunya for a reported fee of 19 million Euro, plus variables.
To this point in the campaign, Vidal has appeared in all 3 of Barca’s La Liga outings, though none of these have come as starts.
And, as per the aforementioned report from Football-Espana this afternoon, Vidal may be set to have his wait for a first start in the Blaugrana jersey pushed back even further, after the veteran picked up an injury whilst on international duty with Chile.
Vidal is said to have suffered a fresh problem with his right knee.As per Football-Espana:
‘The 31-year-old suffered the discomfort during a training session in Sapporo whilst on international duty, ahead of Friday’s meeting against Japan.’
While Vidal’s injury is not thought to be serious, it will no doubt mark a worrying development for Barcelona.
The former Juventus man has endured serious problems with his right knee over recent seasons, eventually culminating in him being forced to undergo surgery at the end of last season.
In other news on the injury front for the Blaugrana, Vidal’s fellow summer arrival Malcom has also picked up a problem.
As per a report on the official website of the La Liga champions, the Brazilian attacker:
‘Suffered a sprain to the lateral external ligament of his right ankle.’
However, he is expected to be back in action next week.
