Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham have named their Champions League squads.

The Premier League quartet will be hoping to deliver England’s first Champions League winner since Chelsea lifted the trophy in 2012.

Liverpool reached the final last season, and there are no surprises in their squad as they battle PSG, Napoli and Red Star Belgrade in Group C.

Manchester City are one of the pre-tournament favourites, and they face a far more favourable group in Shakhtar Donetsk, Lyon and Hoffenheim.

Manchester United will take on Juventus, Valencia and Young Boys in their group, while Tottenham have Barcelona, PSV and Inter Milan.

The squads contain no actual shocks – no matter what click-hungry websites tell you during international week.

The most high-profile omissions from the ‘A’ list are also easily explained, as clubs can also choose from a ‘B’ list of players born on or after January 1, 1997.
