Should United Sack Jose Mourinho Right Now?

If Manchester United were to sack Mourinho, the timing would be really poor. Due to the fact that we are a month into the new season and getting a new manager will be bad for United and their hunt for the title. Also, if they were to part ways with Mourinho they would have to allow the new manager more time to find his feet and implant his philosophy.

But giving him more time may be bad for United, as the bad results may keep on coming pushing them down the table and pushing them further and further away from the title.

Jose Mourinho also signed a new contract extension in January. The fact that the board offered him a new deal shows that they clearly felt he is the right man for the job. Sacking him wouldn’t make any sense from the board’s point of view bearing in mind it was reported that they will also have to pay £12 million to sack him.

Sacking Jose Mourinho during this part of the season wouldn’t be the right call. Even if they do sack Mourinho, the next question will be who will they replace him with?

Sacking him will worsen their position, putting them behind their rivals as they will have to search for a new manager. This is a bad thing because it will stall their season and for a club like United, they really can’t afford to be finishing outside the top 4.

The sacking of Mourinho will also outline a dangerous precedent for future United managers given that he will be the 3rd manager sacked since Sir Alex Ferguson left.

Would you ever believe that Jose Mourinho is changing his style? Well, you better believe it because, over the last two games against Spurs and Burnley, United registered 44 shots. So they are creating more goal scoring chances and pressing higher up the pitch.

In the game against Spurs, United started well, and they should have really scored in the first half. Even though Burnley were poor, United were clinical and played expansive football something the fans have been wanting to see for a long time now.

It must be said that with the players Mourinho has at his disposal the best thing to do is to play attacking football.

The result against Burnley brought back smiles to the faces of many Manchester United fans also their manager. But there are still many problems at United which need to be sorted out at the earliest. And, as always the expectations from Manchester United and Jose Mourinho are really high.
