Thibaut Courtois finally made his Real Madrid debut over the weekend and after turning out for his new side, the Belgium international aimed his cross-hairs on his former side by brutally trolling Chelsea.

The 26-year-old stopper went AWOL at Chelsea to force a move to Real Madrid.

He eventually got his way, sealing a £35 million transfer to the Champions League holders. Courtois has played second fiddle to Keylor Navas, until Saturday. Julen Lopetegui picked his new signing, fielding him between the sticks.

He played his first La Liga game since 2014, and made a winning start to life as a Real Madrid player though failed to keep a clean sheet. He conceded a first-half penalty but Real Madrid eventually secured all three points by beating Leganes 4-1.

And following the league victory, Courtois spoke about the difference between Real Madrid and Chelsea while taking a not so subtle dig at the Premier League club.

“In training, you see that the level is high,” he said via Metro.

Courtois added: “I am now experiencing on a daily basis that Sergio Ramos is the best centre-back in the world. The level [at Real Madrid] is higher than at Chelsea.

“[The Santiago Bernabeu] is twice as big [as Stamford Bridge], of course, it’s a very different feeling.

“If you look forward you only see a wall of people, while at Stamford Bridge you can still see the sky or the hotel behind the grandstand.”

This will no doubt fuel Chelsea’s hate toward Courtois following his toxic exit in the summer.
