Reports have claimed the Red Devils boss could face the axe if United lose at Burnley on Sunday afternoon. Mourinho’s men have lost their previous two fixtures, losing at Brighton before their embarrassing 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford against Tottenham.
However, according to The Guardian, Mourinho and Woodward’s relationship has never been better.
They say the United executive vice-chairman has told friends his relationship with Mourinho hasn’t been affected by their poor run of form.
The sources add that Mourinho’s job is not in jeopardy, even if the Red Devils lose at Burnley this weekend. Woodward has spoken to the Glazer family on the phone every day for the past three weeks. The Guardian claim the Glazers are upset about United’s poor performances this season.
Following United’s 3-0 defeat against Spurs at Old Trafford on Monday night, Mourinho demanded respect from journalists in his post-match press conference.
He said: “I won more Premierships alone than the other 19 managers together. Three for me, two for them. Respect! Today I had the proof the best judge are the supporters.”
Much has been made of Mourinho’s struggles this season, with United hero Gary Neville slamming Woodward following their defeat at Brighton.
He said: “I can only describe it as something I don’t want to see the CEO of Manchester United do.
