Arsenal boss takes big decision to get good results

Arsenal FC coach Unai Emery banned fruit juice from the team’s training ground menu in an effort to closely monitor the team’s fitness regimen, according to ESPN and the Mirror.

Emery, who replaced Arsene Wenger as the team’s head coach in May, is wanting his players to drink water as opposed to juices with high doses of sugar.

Wenger similarly tried to restrict the team’s dietary choices, banning alcoholic beverages and chocolate bars in favor of chicken, fish and vegetables.

Arsenal’s preseason training also has featured stronger emphasis on fitness under Emery, according to players. Emery has utilized weighing sessions, body fat measurements and other scientific processes as a way to closely manage players’ health, according to the Mirror.

Last year, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has barred hawkers from selling chocolates and sugary snacks at Etihad training base.

Guardiola has also restricted his players from purchasing chocolates online, urging them to stick on dietary regime. Guardiola’s nutritionist Silvia Tremoleda has meanwhile started providing healthy meals for all staff, rather than just the team with dishes consist of fish, quinoa, pasta, salad, rice and chicken. Free fruit and gym membership have long-been available to club employees.

The 46-year-old had only been in his new job for a matter of weeks when he began banishing players from first his team training like Samir Nasri who he considered to be overweight.
