Gareth Bale has now hit five goals in six games against Getafe after again finding the net against Los Azulones in Real Madrid’s 2-0 LaLiga win at the Bernabéu on Sunday.
Seals opening LaLiga win to extend scoring run against GetafeAfter Dani Carvajal had headed Julen Lopetegui’s men into a 20th-minute lead, Bale fired in a back-post Marco Asensio cross early in the second half to complete a comfortable opening-weekend victory for Real and continue his excellent record against Los Blancos’ fellow Spanish-capital outfit.
Bale’s first appearance against Getafe came in gameweek 24 of the 2013-14 LaLiga season and, although Madrid won 3-0 that day, he couldn’t get on the scoresheet. However, he was on target next time out against Los Merengues’ near neighbours – and hasn’t stopped scoring since. That game came during the 2014-15 league season, when the European champions won by three goals again.
In the 2015-16 season, Bale then grabbed his second against Getafe in a 4-1 top-flight victory at the Bernabéu, before also netting in the return fixture at the Coliseum as Real won 5-1, with the Welshman getting the third. Real Madrid’s 3-1 LaLiga win last season then saw the ‘Cardiff Express’ open his side’s account.
