Manchester United are set to be handed an injury boost as defender Diogo Dalot prepares to join the training soon. The full-back signed for Manchester United during the summer transfer window and the defender was carrying an injury when he completed the move to Manchester United. Dalot had to undergo a surgery in May as well.

As per the information gathered by sources, Diogo Dalot is now set to join his new teammates at Manchester United for training. Dalot missed the pre-season with his new team as he was recovering from his injury and he will be hoping to make up for lost time now. The Portuguese defender missed the US tour with United as well.

According to sources, Diogo Dalot will resume full training this week and that should give the manager of Manchester United, Jose Mourinho, a much-needed boost. Apparently, Diogo Dalot has impressed the fitness coaches of the English Premier League club over the weekend and they have given him the green signal to join the first team squad for training.

The Manchester United manager has had to use Matteo Darmian as the right back because of Antonio Valencia’s injury. Furthermore, Ashley Young is also lacking match fitness.
Earlier, Jose Mourinho confirmed that Diogo Dalot would be sidelined until September and it seems that the young defender is right on schedule to play for his new club in the next few weeks.

Mourinhosaid, “Dalot is injured; we knew that but we didn’t want to lose him because of that. He is recovering really well. We think he can start training with the team when we go back to England. He will not be ready for the start of the season but we think he’ll be ready for September.”

Man Utd fans have not yet got the chance to see new signing Diogo Dalot but his recovery is well on track.

It will still take a few weeks for Dalot to get up to speed, and Jose Mourinho has already ruled out selecting his summer signing until September. Dalot was at Old Trafford to watch United’s 2-1 victory over Leicester City on Friday evening and was even filmed celebrating in the stands for Paul Pogba’s opening goal. The Portuguese primarily plays as a right-back and will provide competition for Antonio Valencia, although he is also capable of providing defensive cover on the opposite flank.

Jose Mourinho is not expecting any of Manchester United’s injured players to return against Brighton. United face Brighton on Sunday in their second game of the season, having edged to a 2-1 victory over Leicester on the opening day.

A number of players missed the game against the Foxes through injury, with Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera, Antonio Valencia and Nemanja Matic all sidelined.

Mourinho expects Jesse Lingard to return after World Cup duty, but suggests the England international will be the only new face.

“I think we will have the same players [as against Leicester],” Mourinho told United’s official website.

“I think the injured players aren’t going to be back for Brighton. What we have is Paul [Pogba] with nine days’ training, Rashford with 11 days’ training, Fellaini with nine days’ training and, of course, they will be in a better condition.

“Normally, these boys that [against Leicester] were in a difficult situation will be ready to give a bit more [against Brighton] – more Lukaku, more Rashford, probably Lingard coming back, more Fellaini. I think normally we’re going to have more.”
