Manchester to miss key players against Leicester City

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has revealed the players he will miss during their league opener tie against Leicester City.

Mourinho has pointed out that Anthony Martial will probably not start after missing the pre-season tour to attend the birth of his son. Paul Pogba and the players that participated in the World Cup tournament will also miss but the boss would rather have them on the bench than the youngsters. The Reds will welcome Leicester at Old Trafford on Friday night.

“Nine days of pre-season where no training, no football, absolutely nothing [because he left the tour to attend the birth of his second child]. He’s in the group of players who didn’t have a pre-season, it’s as simple as that. You try to make a case and there is no case on it. For nine days he didn’t train. so he’s to start again.” the Portuguese said on Martial.

Mourinho, who has been on record criticising some of his senior players came out strong to defend his relationship with them adding that he is ready to work with them to achieve the best result at the end of the season.

“When you repeat 1000 times that my relationship with my players is not good, a lie repeated 1000 times is still a lie. I like my players and my group. I enjoyed last season, the fight to finish where we finished and to manage the best position this club has had in five years. I’m going to enjoy this season.” Mou said in defense of the situation within the team.

On Pogba, the boss says he will have a chat with him to see if he is ready for action after arriving late from post World Cup break.

“My perception of the situation? He arrived Monday, happy, proud, a desire to work. He worked amazingly well Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and he’s one of the players that I have to speak to see how, physically and mentally, he feels,” the tactician said.

“But it’s the same conversation as with [Ashley] Young, [Marouane] Fellaini, [Jesse] Lingard (Who were also involved in the World Cup until its final weekend). It’s the same. To know how they feel physically, mentally — to try to give us a help [from the start of the season]. If they feel they can help us, 20 minutes, 10 minutes, half an hour. We don’t have many solutions and want to go with everything we have” he concluded in his pre-match press conference.
