Gor Mahia meets to solve Kerr and Ochieng fueds

After an incident where head coach Dylan Kerr and goalkeeper trainer Willis Ochieng had an exchange of words in the dugout at Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa, the Gor Mahia technical committee held a meeting on Wednesday 8 August with the technical staff to solve the rift.

The incident occurred on Tuesday as Gor Mahia FC played Bandari where they suffered a 1-2 loss, which brought to an end their unbeaten run on Kenyan soil in 2018. The technical committee to reconcile the parties was headed by John Pesa and head coach Dylan Kerr, Assistant coach Zedekiah Otieno, Team Manager Jolawi Obondo and goalkeeper trainer Willis Ochieng’ were all present.

Gor Mahia CEO Lordvick Aduda admitted that there was a disagreement during the league game but revealed that they held a meeting that yielded fruits as the members of the technical bench reconciled and resolved to work together to improve the club.

“We held a meeting with the technical bench staff – head coach Dylan Kerr, Assistant coach Zedekiah Otieno, Team Manager Jolawi Obondo and goalkeeper trainer Willis Ochieng’ to discuss and find a lasting solution to the unfortunate incident in Mombasa.

“There was a misunderstanding between some members of the technical staff which lead to what happened Mbaraki. All parties involved have apologised to each other, to the team, to the club’s management, to all stakeholders and to Gor Mahia fanbase at large.” he told the club’s official portal.

Aduda believes that it is always important to have a sit-down and sort disagreements whenever they arise. He is delighted that they have solved the issue among the staff.

“It was necessary to hold such a meeting to understand what the problem was and probably find a good solution to it. We are glad we managed to handle it well and the technical staff will continue to work together without any problem like they have been doing,” he added.

Gor Mahia will be back in action against Posta Rangers in Kisumu.
