Cardi B and Offset have trademarked their baby daughter’s name less than a month after she was born. The rappers welcomed Kulture Kiari Cephus to the world on 10 July and have now secured her future success with her own trading name. The couple filed to register their little girl’s full name for merchandising rights of shirts, jackets, trousers and other items of clothing, documents obtained by The Blast reveal. They made sure their daughter has the right to use her own name if ever she wanted to follow in her parents’ footsteps in the music industry.
Also included for good measure were ‘motion pictures’, ‘online video games’ and ‘dance events’. The request was filed under Sallie Smith LLC, a company registered to Migos rapper Offset, though we can assume Cardi B had her say in the decision. After the birth of Kulture, Cardi B pulled out as the opening act for Bruno Mars explaining she just wasn’t ready to leave her little girl behind and set off on tour.
However, it was recently revealed she’ll be making her musical comeback later this year, first headlining Global Citizen Festival in New York with Janet Jackson and The Weeknd. The Bodak Yellow rapper will later front the Texas’ Mala Luna Festival in October.
Cardi B is returning to the stage for the first time since giving birth headlining a festival later this year. The rapper and husband Offset welcomed their first child together in July after which she cancelled her upcoming tour dates with Bruno Mars. However Cardi will be back in business in October, taking one of the top spots at the Mala Luna Festival.
Following the birth of daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus in July, Cardi pulled out as the opening set for Bruno Mars scheduled for September. She tweeted: ‘I thought that after giving birth to my daughter that 6 weeks would be enough time for me to recover mentally and physically.
‘I also thought that I’d be able to bring her with me on tour, but I think I underestimated this whole mommy thing. ‘Not only am I just not ready physically, I’m not ready to leave my baby behind since the doctors explained it’s not healthy for her to be on the road.’ Cardi recently confirmed she’d married Offset in secret last September despite the Migos rapper publicly proposing on stage a month after.
She tweeted: ‘There are so many moments that I share with the world and then there are moments that I want to keep for myself! Getting married was one of those moments!
‘We found someone to marry us, and she did, just the two of us and my cousin. I said I do, with no dress no makeup and no ring!’
Mala Luna Festival will take place in San Antonio, Texas, from 27-28 October. Cardi will perform alongside the likes of Tyler the Creator, Nicky Jam and Lil Pump.
Cardi B took a night off from mummy duties to enjoy a fun evening with her friends, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. The Bodak Yellow rapper, who gave birth to baby daughter Kulture in July, headed to Calabasas, California to hang out with the Wests on Saturday night.
Joining the slumber party was Kim’s mum Kris Jenner, publicist Patience F. and Hollywood Unlocked founder Jason Lee, making for quite the cool party. In one of her Instagram Stories, Kim, 37, poses for a selfie with Kris, 62, and Cardi B, real name Belcalis Almanzar.
