Born on October 26, 1961, Kenya’s fourth president Uhuru Kenyatta is today celebrating his birthday. The 55-year-old son of the first president of Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta, is celebrating his birthday on the third anniversary of his position as the president of Kenya. There are, however, some few facts you may not have known about your president. We highlight five of them here. Some of them may actually surprise you. 1. Did you know that Uhuru Kenyatta was a bank teller at the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB)’s Kipande house branch on Kenyatta Avenue, Nairobi? Now you know. He worked as a bank teller for KCB between 1979 and 1980. He was based at KCB’s Kipande House branch on Kenyatta Avenue in Nairobi and he earned about KSh 600.
2. He got married at the age of 30 years. He married Margaret Wanjiru Gakuo in 1991 and they have been together for 24 years now. They have been blessed with three children, Ngina Kenyatta, Jomo Kenyatta and Jaba Kenyatta.

4. He has 1.13 Million followers on Twitter and 1.87 Million Facebook likes as of Monday October 26, 2015. He uses his social media handles to communicate to his supporters.
5. He played rugby at St. Mary’s High School in Nairobi, where he schooled. He was a blindside winger and played first in the senior Colts team before progressing to the school’s 2nd fifteen.
6. Worked in a Restaurant while in the US
Burger King is a Chain restaurant in the US that sells Burgers. Uhuru Kenyatta once worked as a ‘Burger Boy’.
7. He slept in State House when his Father was the President, but it was never his home
When Jomo Kenyatta was the President, Uhuru Kenyatta spent very little time in State House despite his Father being there.
He lived in Gatundu, his village home.

8. The favorite Ministry he has ever worked for was the Ministry of Trade.
Above all positions he has held within the Government of Kenya besides being a President, he thoroughly enjoyed working as a Minister for the Ministry of Trade.
9. Nelson Mandela remains to be the most inspirational man he has ever met
Uhuru Kenyatta had the privilege of meeting Nelson Mandela and to him, that’s the most inspirational person he has talked and interacted with.

Like most public servants, Uhuru Kenyatta would like to pack his bags and relax at home when he turns 60.
11. His greatest desire is to serve the people of Kenya
As the 4th President of Kenya, Uhuru’s greatest endeavor is to serve the people who chose elected him into power.
He has a legacy to maintain, bearing in mind that his father was the first president of Kenya and President Moi wanted him to become the Presdient.
That said, it is in Uhuru’s greatest interest to ensure that he does a good job in his service.
