DP Ruto’s kutangatanga goes a notch higher

Deputy President William Ruto has been touring around the Country attending events  such as fundraisers, church services, graduation ceremonies and many other events.

Just to have a breakdown, In May, for instance, he travelled to at least 10 counties — including Nakuru (three times) and Baringo two times.

Still in May he was at the Kabarak home of former president Daniel arap Moi, but failed to meet the elder statesman allegedly due to a medical appointment.

On May 16, three days later, Mr Ruto was in Nakuru County, alongside President Kenyatta, for a prayer service for the 47 victims of the Solai dam tragedy.

In June the Deputy President tour the coast region for the nkinth time in a row where he was attending a fundraising event.

It has been speculated that he has been using his events to campaign for the top seat in which he is eyeing in 2022.

In coast region for instance where most of the legislators are for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have been declaring their support towards the DP come 2022.

However the Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has not been feeling the DP’s vibe, he has however claimed to work together and closely with The Jubilee government and President Uhuru Kenyatta but not his Deputy Willian Ruto.

Contrary to Joho’s move, Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi, who together with Hassan Joho have been the main opposition pointmen in the region, has dumbed Joho for Ruto

For the first time ever Mr Kingi was exchanging pleasantries with the DP in public since he and Mr Joho never saw eye to eye with Jubilee Party stalwarts since the 2013 polls during the third Annual Legislative Summit.

However Ruto has denied claims that he is campaigning claiming that the government’s big agenda is to fulfill the Big 4 agenda  which has also lead the President have directly instructed all the legislators to avoid politicking for the next four years to secure his legacy agenda.

Recently the Deputy President claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta will personally lead his 2022 campaigns.

Mr Ruto sought to allay fears that he was at odds with the Head of State.

This was said during a Nyeri meeting with Nyeri leaders at Fairmont Hotel in Nanyuki, Mr Ruto said President Kenyatta supports his ambition to lead the country in 2022 and the handshake between the Head of State and opposition leader Raila Odinga has not changed their political vision.

Being the head of State President Kenyatta seems to have attended less events in the country than his deputy.

The most recent one was in the coast where he toured the region for two weeks inspecting development projectrs before jetting back to Nairobi.

Uhuru ended the visit on Tuesday after opening the 10th African Confederation of Principals Conference at Pride Inn Paradise Hotel.

He said, “I would have loved to stay longer and listen to a few presentations but I have to go back to Nairobi,” he said. “I have been in Mombasa for two weeks and there has been too much speculation on why I am here, so wacha nirudi Nairobi ndio wawache mambo ya (so let me go back to Nairobi so they can stop the) speculation.”
