Nyeri is all smiles; something good’s cooking!

Nyeri leaders led by Governor H.E. Mutahi Kahiga today held a consultative meeting at Afya House, Nairobi and the National Government through Ministry of Health team led by CS Hon Sicily Kariuki.
This is on operationalization of the new Othaya Level 6 Hospital. The Governor is happy to note that 99 % of the work has been done and now waiting for the final touches before it is officially opened.In a special way, he thanked H.E Uhuru Kenyatta for his dedication to seeing this hospital completed.

He was accompanied by Nyeri Senator Hon Ephraim Maina, Othaya MP Hon Gichuki Mugambi and Nyeri Women Rep Hon Rahab Mukami.When fully operational, this hospital will offer tertiary healthcare in the following disciplines: Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastro-enterology, Nephrology ,Neurology, Pulmonology, Dermatology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Urology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Ortholaryngology, Paediatric Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery, Critical Care, Neonatal Care, Oncology and other clinical disciplines.

Meanwhile, in an effort to promote trade in Nyeri county, Deputy Governor H. E Caroline Karugu on 31 July represented Nyeri county in the Kenya Trade Week at KICC where the Deputy President H.E. William Ruto visited the Nyeri exhibition stand.

The stand had exhibitors drawn from Nyeri Entreprenuers and SME’s showcasing their products some of which were identified as ripe for Export.

The County Government of Nyeri under the leadership of H.E. Mutahi Kahiga is putting in place modalities to ensure that Nyeri SME’s and Entreprenuers access export markets under the Dollar Mashinani program in partnership with Export Promotion Council.

The county also is hosting Kenya Primary Schools National Ball Games and Gymnastics which officially kicked off in Nyeri County on Monday. The official opening of the 36th National Ball Games and Gymnastics was presided over by Nyeri Governor H.E Mutahi Kahiga at the Moi Nyeri Complex Primary School.

The theme of this year’s annual event is , ‘ Identifying and nurturing ball games and gymnastics talents in primary schools.’

The National Championships will include Soccer, Handball, Volleyball, Netball and Gymnastics. The teams are drawn from eight regions which include Nairobi, Coast, Central, Eastern, North Eastern, Nyanza, Rift Valley and Western.

The governor was accompanied by the Deputy Governor H.E Caroline Karugu, County Secretary Benjamin Gachichio, Chief of Staff Paul Wambugu, CECs Margaret Macharia- Education & Sports, Dr. Kwai Wanjaria- Lands & Housing, Beth Karimi-Public Administration, Muthui Kariuki-Roads and Infrastructure, Frederick Wanjohi –Water,Environment & Sanitation, Esther Ndung’u Youth and Gender, Henry Kinyua-Agriculture, Mbao Rashid- National Chairman of Kenya Primary Schools Sports Association, Muhia Maina- KPSSA Central Region, County Director of Education Moses Makori and other officials from Ministry of Education ; Directorate of field coordination and co-curricular events and The Kenya Primary Schools Sports Association who are the main organizers of the event.

Other upcoming events in Nyeri are the upcoming National Music and Drama Festivals, The Water Companies Sports Organizations (WASCO) games and the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) conference.

The 36th Kenya Primary Schools National Ball Games and Gymnastics kick off in Nyeri County. Nyeri is the host for this year’s annual event. The event has been organized by the Kenya Primary Schools Sports Association. Nyeri Governor H.E Mutahi Kahiga presided over the official opening accompanied by Deputy Governor H.E Caroline Karugu and other officials.
