Demi Lovato ‘still in hospital six days after alleged overdose’ after suffering ‘complications’

Demi Lovato is said to be suffering ‘complications’ following her alleged overdose and is being kept in hospital. The singer was allegedly found unconscious at home following a party six days ago, and has yet to be released from hospital, Ceders-Sinai in LA. According to TMZ, sources have said she is ‘suffering extreme nausea and a high fever’, among other ‘complications’ said to be related to an overdose.

It has been claimed that at the time Demi was found, someone had administered Narcan, a drug used to reverse the effects of opioids. It was originally claimed she’d taken heroin, but it’s now been said she refused to tell medics what she took. It was thought she was ready to leave the facility, with it being claimed she was being released into the care of a rehab centre.

She has since said the incident was a ‘wake up call’, telling friends according to Entertainment Tonight: ‘Demi opened up to her friends and family that she was no longer sober, but was working on her ongoing addiction. However, Demi lost control. ‘The overdose has been a wakeup call to Demi that she needs to get more serious about her sobriety and is telling friends and family she will do everything it takes to get back to the amazing place she was in before she slipped.’ A source previously told The Blast she was ‘doing very well.’

Speaking of her ex Wilmer Valderrama, who rushed to the hospital following the incident, the source said: ‘Wilmer is one of the only people who has been around her, besides her mum.’ And the Sober singer’s backup dancer, Dani Vitale, has broken her silence on the news, explaining she wasn’t with the 25-year-old when she was taken for treatment. In a statement shared on her Instagram page, she told her 103k followers: ‘I care about Demi just like all of you do. I have not said anything about this situation until now because her recovery has been of the most importance.

‘I was not with Demi when the incident happened, but I am with her now, and will continue to be because she means the world to me just as she does to all of you. ‘Like all of you, I have nothing but love in my heart for her. There is no need for any negativity towards the ones who care about Demi at this time. There is too much of it in this world as it is.’ She continued by begging Demi’s fandom, the Lovatics, to stay positive. ‘I know you’re all feeling lost without her at this moment in time. Remember that you have always been a community of Lovatics who LOVE,’ she added. ‘Please remember that when you take out your phones and start typing. ‘Remember that we all love her more than we can ever put into words. Please continue to send her love during her recovery.’

While Dani has removed comments from her post, Demi’s sister, Madison De La Garza, and tour support Jax Jones have liked the upload. The Sexy Dirty Love singer was taken to Cedars-Sinai hospital last week, following a suspected drug overdose. It was reported she had suffered a heroin overdose, but it has now said she refused to tell paramedics the substance she may have taken. An insider recently explained she is awake and responsive, and it is ‘safe’ for her to leave hospital. She will be taken to rehab for drug abuse treatment once she is ready to be discharged.
