Rita Ora’s ‘lovely accent’ inspired Margot Robbie’s scheming assassin

Margot Robbie has revealed how she was influenced by Rita Ora’s accent for her new role in noir thriller Terminal. ‘A friend of mine, Rita Ora, I think has a lovely accent so I pulled a bit of reference from her voice,’ Margot tells Metro.co.uk. ‘When you’re picking an accent, I need to find someone where I can google a lot of their interviews or sometimes I find people who have blogs or whatever so you can hear them talking a lot. There’s a bit of Rita in [this film]. She’s got such a good accent, I love it.’ Margot’s new film Terminal sees her alongside Simon Pegg and Mile Myers in the crime thriller which follows intertwining stories with murderous consequences.

The film is incredibly stylised – a trait which seems to follow Margot throughout her filmography from Suicide Squad and I Tonya to Focus. ‘It’s probably just me gravitating towards the stuff I like,’ she admits. ‘It wasn’t a conscious choice but I think that just ends up exciting me the most. I love stylised films, I love Wes Anderson films that are so specifically stylised, or Tarantino or Scorsese. ‘When you watch a movie and you’re like “I know the film maker that made this because it’s just got its thing”. It seems like a bold choice, a brave choice and I like that.’ The actress has in recent years also turned her hand to producing and writing movies; her company Lucky Chap Productions has already helped produce Oscar-nominated film I, Tonya.

But Margot has no time for critics who have complained that political correctness has seen the conversation shift too far towards female film makers. ‘I would say that 52% of the box office sales come from women so we should have 52% of the content being female driven if we’re talking strictly in numbers,’ she says. ‘But aside from that, I kind of…you relate to what you see on screen. That’s not to say I don’t relate to male characters that I watch in movies.

‘Some of my favourite films are male driven and I still find a way to relate to them and I love them, and I don’t see why that should stop guys enjoying [female-driven] of films as well.’

Rita Ora is a lover of a crazy garb or two, but attending an event earlier this week she went for a more muted look and looked stunning. At the weekend Rita went for bold at the Summertime Ball, but at a New York event on Monday she left the lime green bicep length gloves at home and proved that she can pull off both ends of the fashion spectrum.

Rita Ora had taken an afternoon off her massively hectic tour schedule to engage in some spa-side frolics with her family and boyfriend earlier this month. And we wanted in because hot dog it looked like a raucous time for all. The Your Song singer looked in her element as she rocked a black bikini in the French Riviera recently, as she was joined by parents Besnik and Vera and boyfriend Andrew Watt. It didn’t look to be too chilled, though, as she was seen pushing her father into the water before jumping on his shoulders for a cheeky snap. Vera was ready with the camera, too, as she precariously squatted down on the edge of the spa to get that Insta-worthy angle.

Wanting a slice of the action, Rita then joined her for their own pouty snap, as the two smized down the camera lens. Okay, sure, they were both wearing sunglasses, but we’re sure there is some smizing going on under those shades, as Vera wrapped an arm around her 27-year-old daughter.
