Confirmed ! Barcelona ace coming to EPL, but not to Arsenal

Barcelona defender Lucas Digne has been given time off Barcelona’s training camp to travel to England to seal a potential move to Everton.

Under Marcos Silva, Everton are looking to rebuild, and the left-back is part of the process. Digne has been with the Barcelona squad for their pre-season tour of the United States and was an unused substitute in their win over Tottenham.

Barca confirmed the potential transfer through a tweet.

@LucasDigne travels today to Barcelona with the Club’s permission to finalise his departure from the Club,” he tweeted.

On Sunday evening Digne paid tribute to the Catalan club on social media ahead of the transfer. “I want to say thank you very much to all. First to the club that has given me everything since I arrived. Thanks to all the physios, the staff with whom I have worked, the physical trainers, the security people, all that make the club a family.”

On 27 July 2010, Digne signed his first professional contract agreeing to a three-year deal with Lille until June 2013, though it was later extended to 2016 in January 2012. Ahead of the 2011–12 season, Digne was promoted to the senior team permanently and assigned the number 3 shirt. He made his professional debut on 26 October 2011 in a 6–1 victory over Sedan in the Coupe de la Ligue.

On 17 July 2013, Digne signed a five-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain, on a fee believed to be around €15 million.

On 13 July 2016, Digne joined Spanish La Liga side Barcelona on a five-year deal. The fee was €16.5 million (£13.8 million), with the possibility to increase to €20.5 million (£17.1 million), according to individual and team results.On 14 August 2016, Digne made his first appearance for Barcelona in a 0–2 victory against Sevilla in the 2016 Supercopa de España first leg, as a 27th-minute substitute for compatriot Jérémy Mathieu.

He played 26 total games in his first season at the Camp Nou, scoring once in a 7–0 (8–1 aggregate) win over Segunda División B club Hércules in the last 32 of the Copa del Reyon 21 December 2016.

Digne played 20 times in 2017–18 as Barcelona won the league and cup double under new manager Ernesto Valverde. On 18 October 2017, he scored from Lionel Messi’s assist in a 3–1 home win over Olympiacos in the Champions League group stage

He has represented his nation France at the U16, U17, and U18 levels. Digne represented France at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, wearing the number 17 shirt, and in the third group game against Ecuador, suffered a foul by Ecuadorian captain Antonio Valencia, for which Valencia was shown a straight red card.

On May 17 2018, he was named on the standby list for the 23 man French squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
