Real Madrid Agree Terms With Chelsea Star

Real Madrid have reached a deal with Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, but have not agreed anything with Chelsea and will turn to Hugo Lloris if the deal falls through.

According to the ‘Daily Mail’, the European champions have agreed on personal terms with the Belgian keeper as they look to complete the transfer as soon as possible.

Courtois had an excellent World Cup with his country and finished with winning the Golden Glove award, indicating him as the best keeper at the tournament.

The player himself has long-hinted that he would like a move to the Spanish capital to be with his young children, who live there with his former partner.

Despite this agreement with the player, nothing has been finalised between the two clubs and ‘Los Blancos’ are aware that the deal could not come to fruition.

If this were to be the case, it seems as though Hugo Lloris would be the next target to replace Keylor Navas. However, it seems as thought the World Cup winner will not be allowed to leave Tottenham, after Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has already fended off interest in Mauricio Pochettino and Harry Kane from Florentino Perez.

The future of Real’s current goalkeeper, Navas, is unclear but it is assumed that he will be moved on from the club after the signing of Courtois or Lloris is completed. Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal for former England international goalkeeper Rob Green.

The 38-year-old is set to join as a free agent and will replace Eduardo, who is on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, as the club’s third-choice keeper.

Green is unlikely to play — Eduardo didn’t get a game in two seasons at Stamford Bridge — but his experience and the fact he will count as a home-grown player make him an attractive option.

The capture of Green will not conclude Chelsea’s search for a suitable first-team replacement for Thibaut Courtois, who is set to complete a £35.5m move to Real Madrid.

The Blues have been considering a number of candidates, including Kasper Schmeichel and Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Schmeichel enjoyed a solid World Cup with Denmark which has seen him enter the fray to replace Chelsea wantaway Thibaut Courtois in west London.

But Leicester boss Claude Puel appears to have poured cold water on the rumours, insisting the Foxes No 1 will not be leaving the King Power Stadium.

“I am not troubled about this,” said the Frenchman on Saturday.

“Of course Kasper is a very important player for us.

“He had a very strong World Cup.

“We need Kasper, with his character, his performance and his consistency.”

When asked if the club had received any offers for Schmeichel, Puel replied: “No. There is no problem with this.

“There is a lot of speculation at this moment, it is normal.”

Leicester recently spent £12m on Liverpool backup stopper Danny Ward, which only intensified rumours surrounding Schmeichel’s future.

Chelsea have also been linked with a shock move for former ‘keeper Petr Cech and Manchester City outcast Joe Hart.

The Blues missed out on Brazilian No 1 Alisson who opted to join Premier League rivals Liverpool earlier this week.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are facing competition from Roma for the signing of Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey, after Barcelona won the race to sign Brazilian starlet Malcom from Bordeaux.
