Shield:AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia set for midweek action at Kasarani

The stage has been set for the round of 16 of the FKF SportPesa Shield, set to be played between July 21, and July 25, 2018, with six matches scheduled for LIVE broadcast.

Four of the eight matches lined up will be played at the Narok Stadium on Saturday, July 21, and Sunday, July 22, 2018. A midweek doubleheader featuring Kenyan Premier League sides Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards will round up the round of 16 at the MISC Kasarani.

On Saturday, non-league sides Leysa FC and Friendzone will be hoping to pull yet another upset when they come up against Kenya Police and Riverplate respectively at the Narok Stadium. Kenyan Premier League sides Tusker FC and Sofapaka will also be in action against Bungoma Super Stars and Western Stima respectively at the same venue on Sunday.

Wednesday Doubleheader

Two matches will be played on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at the MISC Kasarani to sum up round of 16 action. Defending Champions AFC Leopards will face off with Division One side Mwatate United in the first match before Gor Mahia squares it out with Posta Rangers.

Leysa FC’s Justus Anene has so far scored four goals in the ongoing FKF SportPesa Shield, a tally only matched by Riverplate FC’s Kennedy Wandiri, as the tourney enters the round of 16 on Saturday, July 21, 2018.

Anene scored the winning goal as Leysa edged past FKF National Super League side KCB 2-1 at Camp Toyoyo in the round of 32. He had earlier on scored a hattrick in their 5-0 win over Emmausians in the round of 64.

The round of 16 is set to take center stage this weekend with six matches lined up for LIVE broadcast. Kenyan Premier League sides AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia will also be in action in a doubleheader against Mwatate United and Posta Rangers respectively on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at the MISC Kasarani.
