A Nairobi Prostitute Admits to Stealing Client’s Phone

A sex worker based in Nairobi told a court she stole from a client after he refused to pay her.

Tezra Khadija (pictured) was accused of stealing mobile phones worth Sh62,500 belonging to Meerabbas Mohammed Ibrahim, a contractor. Mohammed narrated to the court how he received a call from Khadija, who requested they meet at a hotel in Juja.

He claims that after dinner and a few drinks, they headed to the hotel, but Khadija demanded he take a shower first. He was shocked when he found Khadija had left and his phones were missing when he came out of the shower.

Mohammed reported the matter to cops who later arrested Khadija. In mitigation, Khadija told the court that Mohammed had refused to pay her and pleaded for lenient bond terms.

“He refused to pay me that day, claiming I was on my periods. I’ve known him for long. He even impregnated me once. I have young kids who depend on me,” she claimed. She was released on a Sh10, 000 cash bail. Her case was set for October 15, but her probation report will be

This is not the first time that a prostitute has been sued for stealing a client’s phone in Nairobi.

A commercial sex worker shocked a court with her admission of stealing a cellphone from a client who refused to pay for service rendered. In February 2017, a court sentenced another twilight to a 5 hour imprisonment sentence after she admitted to stealing her client’s phone.

Lilian Nyokoa Ngota, 37, admitted to stealing a Huawei mobile phone valued at Sh10,000 during the festive season of 2016.

“I had to get him pay for service rendered. He attempted to be smart but he had it wrong. He had to pay. I took away his phone after he said he had no money to pay for my service,” the accused submitted in mitigation.

Her bold admission caused the magistrate to wonder aloud: “I’m bewildered at the courage with which both Nyokoa and the complainant (Joseph Gitonga Mwenda) handled themselves in making public admissions of what they deed under the cover of dusk.”

And although the court appeared sympathetic to her predicament, Nyokoa was sentenced to five hours of community service at the Law Courts.

The accused narrated how she met the complainant, who was drank at the time, and how they agreed to get intimate in exchange for money. The pair proceeded to book a room at a lodging but upon completion of their sexual engagement the man said he had no money to pay for the service rendered.

The accused said that she was left with no option other than taking away the man’s phone as payment since she has children to feed and other bills to pay.

The complainant who claims that he also lost Sh42,000, later reported the incident at Central Police Station and with the assistance of  Safaricom, the cellphone was traced to Zimmerman where the accused was arrested. In court, Ms Nyokoa admitted stealing the phone but denied stealing the money.
