Followers outraged by FIFA’s Team of World Cup

FIFA have announced their Official World Cup 2018 Team of the Tournament with a number of selections causing huge outrage amongst football supporters. Suprise picks include England’s Ashley Young and Brazil’s Paulinho and Neymar, with players like Theo Hernandez, N’Golo Kante and Romelu Lukaku missing out. Neither the Golden Boot winner Kane or the Golden Glove winner Thibaut Courtois were selected to further add to the controversy.

Hugo Lloris
Having kept the cleanest sheets and conceded the fewest goals, Lloris should have been the recipient of the Golden Glove award, however, he wasn’t and it is strange not to see the supposedly best goalkeeper miss out on the best team award.

Kieran Trippier
The Tottenham Hotspur defender was one of the surprise packages of the tournament and was crucial in helping England produce a shock by reaching the semi-finals of the tournament.

Raphael Varane
The 25-year-old played a crucial role in helping Les Bleus take their second world title and enhanced his status as one of the best defenders in world football.

Dejan Lovren
Croatia were astute defensively in Russia and Lovren was integral in helping the Croats reach the final.

Ashley Young
Young is a controversial selection with the likes of Theo Hernandez and Ivan Strinic missing out on selection.

Luka Modric
The Golden Ball winner Modric had a sensational tournament with Croatia with his performances in Russia making him a contender for the Balon d’Or.

Paulinho
The most bizarre selection of all with the likes of N’Golo Kante and Ivan Perisic missing out.

Eden Hazard
The Chelsea forward had a solid tournament with Belgium and looks destined for a big move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.

Antoine Griezmann
Another player who was crucial in helping France claim their second World Cup with the forward netting four goals in Russia.

Neymar
With the Golden Boot winner Harry Kane missing out for the Paris Saint-Germain, making Neymar’s selection in the team even more debatable.

Kylian Mbappe
The recipient of the Best Young Player of the Tournament award Mbappe used the 2018 World Cup as his springboard into superstardom.
