Man United eye £92m double swoop for Croatia duo

Manchester United are contemplating a double swoop for Croatia World Cup stars Ivan Perisic and Ante Rebic. Both players had a key role in helping their country reach the final in Russia, defeating England along the way in the semi-finals.  According to report, those performances have caught the eye of United boss Jose Mourinho, who had been working as a pundit for Russia Today during the tournament.

Mourinho is a long-term admirer of Perisic, having tried to land the Inter midfielder previously. And he could be prepared to return for the 29-year-old, as well as putting together a bid for Eintracht Frankfurt star Rebic. It is thought the club are willing to stump up £92million for the pair. Rebic and Perisic were part of the returning party that received a heroes welcome in Croatia on Monday.

The squad received a staggering reception, with the main square in Zagreb packed with over 100,000 people Perisic scored in the final, leveling for his side after Mario Mandzukic had scored an own goal to give France the lead, before they eventually succumbed to a 4-2 defeat. It is the country’s best finish at a World Cup, surpassing their third place finish at World Cup 1998.
