Chelsea to sell World Cup star to land Oblak

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has raised the prospect of joining Real Madrid this summer, according to the Daily Mirror. There are reports that Courtois has revealed that the contract offer from Chelsea is “different” from the offer he has from elsewhere. Courtois only has one year left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge but has said that he is happy at the club, after being awarded the Golden Glove at the World Cup.However, he was also been quoted as saying that fellow club and international team-mate Eden Hazard must follow him wherever he goes, fuelling the possibility of the duo joining Real Madrid together this summer.

Oblak would be the ideal replacement. For any top club looking for a goalkeeper this summer, Jan Oblak is the standout choice, closely followed by Roma’s Alisson. However, Oblak has the bonus of a clear summer without the tiredness of a World Cup and he is also a more sturdy choice, which looks a better fit for Chelsea than the more aggressive style of Alisson. If Chelsea can procure a huge fee for Hazard and Courtois, they should be able to put together the monster bid that it would surely require to snare the Atletico Madrid stopper, valued at £63m by Transfermarkt.
