It could be that the most worrying rumour of the transfer window for Chelsea fans is that which has linked Kante to move to Barcelona.
The diminuitive Frenchman arrived at the club after being a central part to Leicester City’s memorable title win in the Premier League, and made a memorable impact at Stamford Brisge as he helped the club to win another Premier League title, and won the Premier League’s player of the season award.
He performed consistently last season too while his team-mates struggled to emulate his own form, and went to the World Cup with the hopes of lifting the trophy.
Of course he managed to do that, but while mot people were focusing on the performances of Kylian Mbappe or Paul Pogba, Kante’s immense contribution went largely unnoticed.
The former Leicester City man will not mind one bit, as he is not keen on the spotlight as shown by his shy reaction to the ‘N’Golo Kante song’ that has become so popular among French supporters when the team were received at the Elysees Palace to celebrate their World Cup win on Monday.
While Courtois and Hazard would be huge losses for the ‘Blues’ next season, as many of his team-mates will tell you a Kante exit from the team would be like losing two players, such is his work-rate.
The Belgian duo are extremely valuable players, but is there another player like Kante in world football at the minute? Chelsea fans will surely not want to find out.
