Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer to Juventus ‘historic error’ – Ex-Real Madrid President, Calderon

A former Real Madrid President, Ramon Calderon, has described Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer to Juventus as a ‘historic error’. Ronaldo leaves Real Madrid as their all-time leading scorer with 451 goals in 438 games, nine years after he joined from Manchester United for a then-world record transfer fee (£80m).

The Portuguese captain on Monday arrived in Turin, to complete the formalities of his £105m transfer to Juve from Real. Calderon, however, has criticised the Los Blancos for allowing Ronaldo to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.

“It’s very sad that they have sold a player like Cristiano Ronaldo, it’s a real pity,” Calderon told Spanish news outlet AS. [Particularly] with what it cost me to sign him, the effort that we made to bring him to Madrid.
