You might not instantly recognise Antoine Griezmann’s stunning wife Erika Choperena. The Spanish psychologist, who isn’t always in the crowd supporting her husband, prefers to keep a low profile and avoid paparazzi. Erika is a qualified child psychologist after completing her studies in San Sebastian.
She ran a popular beauty blog called Cordialmente Erika, but it was deactivated after her relationship with Griezmann went public. The mother-of-one has attended a number of France games, but it is unlikely that she will be spotted in the stands at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Fans will not be able to find her on Instagram, but a fan page regularly uploads photographs of her. Griezmann left his home in France to pursue his dream of becoming a footballer in Spain, aged 13. Shortly after penning his first deal with Real Sociedad, the La Liga star met the beauty blogger.
Griezmann and Choperena met while the forward was still playing for Real Sociedad and she was studying in San Sebastian. The pair began dating eventually but she definitely didn’t make it easy for the forward. The allure of a famous professional footballer, that didn’t work for Griezmann. “For a year and a half, I sent her messages, I tried to seduce her. We have been together since December 27, 2011.”
The France international admitted in his autobiography that he pursued her before she eventually agreed to go out with him. The couple tied the knot at a secret ceremony in Toledo at the 11th century Palacio de Galiana. Erika gave birth to their only child in April 2016, called Mia Griezmann.
Erika Choperena might be the loving wife of Antoine Griezmann, but don’t expect to see her out and about living the glamorous WAG party wife. With so much to offer in terms of knowledge and looks, Antoine is a very lucky man.
As mentioned earlier, Choperena is a qualified child psychologist. So, while Griezmann is outscoring the goals and training, she is sitting down and helping kids get through some of the most terrible things. She qualified after completing her initial studies in San Sebastian, Spain.
While she is not normally at Atletico games supporting her husband in person, she is a career woman and her job is believed to be the main reason that she prefers to stay out of the spotlight.
Before meeting her hubby in 2014, Choperena ran a quiet little beauty blog called Cordialmete Erika. Once news of her relationship with the Madrid star became public knowledge, the site became absolutely swamped with visitors. As another testament to her preference for the “quieter side of life, Choperena deleted the blog.
While she isn’t seen with Griezmann while he is out dancing with his fellow French players, former Arsenal right back Bacary Sagna described her as “very kind but very discreet”.
Choperena was seen in the stands during Euro 2016. For whatever reason, she seems to prefer to watch Griezmann turn out for France than his club. With French games, less Spanish paparazzi are around and hardly anyone knows who she is.
Griezmann had to pay a €500 fine from the Spanish football association in March 2017. After scoring a goal, he lifted up his jersey to reveal this rather adorable message to his wife. “Feliz Cumple Gordita” (Happy Birthday Chubby).
So, if Mia ever wanted to be a professional footballer, who would she represent? Spain or France? According to Griezmann, they have a strict multilingual rule in the family household. Speaking Spanish and French we’re sure Mia will be breaking all the boys’ hearts when she is grown up.
