Chelsea to hold fresh talks with Juventus defender

Now that Maurizio Sarri has finally been announced as the new Chelsea boss reports have it that the Blues are now going to reopen talks with Juventus defender, Daniele Rugani. Rugani began his senior career with Italian side Empoli. He debuted for them in 2013 and would go on to make 81 appearances for them, scoring five and assisting two in that time. His excellent two seasons at Empoli would attract the attention of Juventus who Rugani had previously played for at a youth level. Juventus would then resign Rugani in February of 2015 for just £4.5 million. Rugani was loaned back to Empoli for the remainder of the 2014/15 season. Since signing for Juventus Rugani has played 67 games in all competitions for the Italian giants, scoring five and assisting two.

Sarri was officially announced as Chelsea boss on the 14th of July and had this to say.

‘I am very happy to be coming to Chelsea and the Premier League. It is an exciting new period in my career. I look forward to starting work and meeting the players on Monday ahead of travelling to Australia, where I will be able to get to know the squad and begin our match action.

‘I hope we can provide some entertaining football for our fans, and that we will be competing for trophies at the end of the season, which is what this club deserves.’

Chelsea have already signed Jorginho from Sarri’s ex-club Napoli and it now looks as though Rugani could be set to follow in his fellow countryman’s footsteps.
