Juventus set to sign another player from Madrid

Juventus are interested in signing either Diego Godin or Stefan Savic ahead of the new season, according to reports in Italy. Diego Roberto Godín Leal is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays for Spanish club Atlético Madrid and the Uruguay national team as a central defender.

Despite the sensational £100million arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid, Juventus aren’t done in the market just yet and are eager to shore up their defence next. And according to Italian paper Tuttosport, Massimiliano Allegri’s main targets are Atletico Madrid defensive duo Godin and Savic.

Allegri may well be short of options at the back next season, with Chelsea targeting a move for Daniele Rugani and Mehdi Benatia’s future still up in the air. With Champions League triumph very much on Juventus’ mind, they are looking to acquire the services of an experienced centre-back. 32-year-old Uruguay international Godin is out of contract next summer and the Italian paper report Juventus will offer the Atletico man a lucrative long-term deal.

Meanwhile, Allegri has been monitoring Savic since 2015, when he was still playing for Fiorentina. If moves for the duo fail to materialise, Juventus could make a move for Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi. Meanwhile, in addition to a centre back, Juventus would like to reinforce the left side of their defence in case Alex Sandro leaves. Bayern Munich’s Juan Bernat is the Serie A giants’ main target.
