Jannik Vestergaard has now passed a medical at the club and will complete the switch to Southampton from German side Borussia Monchengladbach within the next 24 hours. Sky Sports have reported that their sources have confirmed that the 25-year-old successfully passed his medical earlier today and all that now needs sorting are his personal terms and the paperwork on the proposed £18million deal.
He has been with Denmark this summer for their World Cup adventure out in Russia but he didn’t feature for the Danes in their scheduled games so he’s very much an unknown quantity for most fans – I doubt I’m alone in not believing I’ve seen him play as I don’t follow foreign football but he certainly seems to be highly rated from what I’ve read on the rumour mill since we’ve been linked to him.
Should he sign, he could be set to have a quick face off against his former side given we are due to play Monchengladbach at St Mary’s Stadium on August 4th.
