Arsenal frustrated in pursuit of Argentine star

Arsenal face frustration in their pursuit of Cristian Pavon. Cristian David Pavón is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a forward for Boca Juniors and the Argentine football team. The Gunners have been tipped to make a move for the Argentine, who plays his club football with Boca Juniors. Barcelona have also been linked with Pavon but AS report Boca are determined to keep hold of him and have decided to offer him a new deal.

The new contract is likely to come with a new minimum release clause, which will now be worth £37.5m. Is he still worth a punt or is the new fee too much for Arsenal to pay?

At international level, Pavón represented the Argentina under-23 side at the 2016 Summer Olympics. In 2017, he was selected to the Argentina national team for friendlies against Russia and Nigeria. He had an impressive debut against Russia, assisting Sergio Aguero on the only goal of the game. He made another assist for Aguero to score against Nigeria in a game that ultimately ended in a 4-2 loss.
