Hazard blasts France tactics

Belgium midfielder has slammed France’s tactics after his side was eliminated by the Les Bleus from the World Cup on Tuesday night.

Roberto Martinez men were impressive in the first half of the game but failed to beat Hugo Lloris. France’s Samuel Umtiti headed home Antoinne Griezmann’s corner the only goal which proved to be the difference. Thereafter, France depended on Kylian Mbappe’s speed on the breaks while N’Golo Kante and Raphael Varane were used to contain Hazard. And the Chelsea winger slammed France for their supposed negative tactics during the semi-final.

“I prefer to lose with this Belgium than win with that France,” said Hazard. His words were echoed by teammate Thibaut Courtois who said, “France has played anti-football. I have not yet experienced that a striker plays so far from goal. It’s their right to play like that… but it’s not nice to see. Not only the French tactics but the referee… he didn’t call well at all.”

Belgium will play with either Croatia or England for the third-place play-off on Saturday
