Former Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres has stated joining Japanese club Sagan Tosu was the ‘best offer’ available to him.
The 34-year-old had been links with move to China, the United States and Australia before confirming his move to the J-League side.
“I had many options from all the continents after I announced I was leaving Atletico,” Torres told reporters after completing the move.
“We said no to Europe from the start because I could not have done better than what we achieved with Atletico, then we discarded some other options.
“We have taken what we think was the best offer.”
