Belgium coach explain World Cup semifinal defeat to France

Belgium slipped to a 1-0 defeat to France in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday and Roberto Martinez was left feeling that the match was very close and only decided by a small detail. Roberto Martínez Montoliu is a Spanish football coach and former professional player. Martínez is the manager of the Belgium national team.

Samuel Umtiti scored the only goal of the match from a set-piece, and this determined the result of the match with the individual quality within either team’s forward lines unable to make the difference.

“The match was very close and it was decided on a small detail,” explained Martinez in his post-match interview. It’s terrible for us to lose from a goal at a corner kick. The attitude of the players was excellent, and that’s what we have to remember, they gave everything until the last second.”
