West Ham keen on Sevilla playmaker

West Ham are interested in signing Sevilla’s Franco Vazquez according to reports. Vazquez began his career in Argentina with Club Atlético Belgrano for whom he played 78 games, in which he scored 11 and assisted four. The 29-year-old would then move to Palermo in 2012 for a fee in the region of £4.05 million. He would go on to score 22 and assist 22 in 109 games for the Italian club. Vazquez then moved to current club Sevilla in 2016 for a fee believed to be around £15.12 million.

Vázquez has since played 82 games for Sevilla, during which he has scored 13 and assisted 11 but he now looks to be on the move again with West Ham keen on him. West Ham have recently appointed Manuel Pellegrini as their new boss and Pellegrini is set to be given up to £75million in order to bring some fresh legs to West Ham.

When appointed West Ham boss, Pellegrini stated:

“West Ham had a difficult season last season and I hope that next season we are going to play football that will delight the fans.

“I always play attacking football and we must try to reach important targets in the season.

“I am excited about this project. My mentality is always to have a winning mentality and I will hope that I can repeat here what I did with all my clubs here in Europe, where I have always arrived in European competition.”

Given his experienceVázquez could well be the perfect signing for Pellegrini’s new look West Ham side and could join the likes of Issa Diop and Lukas Fabianski who have already joined the Hammers this summer.
