Arsenal Star signs for London Rivals

Jack Wilshere has joined West Ham on a three-year contract, the club confirmed on Monday. The former Arsenal midfielder signs for the Hammers after leaving the Emirates at the end of his contract this summer, ending a 17-year spell with the Gunners. Wilshere stays in the London area, and will fly out to Switzerland to link up with Manuel Pellegrini’s squad at their pre-season training camp. ‘It feels good, it feels special,’ said Wilshere.

‘Many people know that I’ve had a special bond with this club growing up. ‘People will have seen the picture of me in a West Ham shirt and I’ve got good memories of my childhood supporting West Ham, watching them at Upton Park. ‘It feels good and of course my family and a few of my friends are West Ham fans so everyone’s buzzing.’

Wilshere left Arsenal in search of first-team football as Unai Emery could not guarantee a regular spot in his starting eleven. The 26-year-old’s family are Hammers supporters and Wilshere admitted it did not take him long to set his sights on a move to West Ham. ‘I think it was a number of things,’ he explained.
